IN MEMORY OF GONZALO LIRA-GALICIAN NATIONALISM: UKRAINE'S DISASTER: PART 2

This is article is dedicated to the life of Gonzalo Lira, an American journalist horrifically dieing while incarcerated in a Ukrainian prison. Gonzalo was jailed and died for telling the truth. You can see it all that he reported about on Utube.

In Part One we discussed the Galician drive for a Nation State and the the fascist philosophy of Dmitry Dontsov. Amongst others, we discussed Stepan Bandera, the leader of the OUN, an organization that was the spearhead of Ukrainian Nationalism. “This organization and its offshoots were responsible for mass killings including up to 850,000 Jews, 220,000 Poles, 500,000 Ukrainian and Belarusian civilians and 400,000 Soviet Prisoners of War” ( Sakwa, p. 274)

In Part Two we will witness the resurgence of the Galician drive for a nation state, its success and its partnership with the United States’ foreign policy team, all resulting in a war that has destroyed 500,000 Ukrainian men and developed a police state with crackdowns on journalists, politicians that ended Gonzalo Lira’s life. All this with a background of antisemitism emanating from the streets.

REVISIONIST HISTORY: UKRAINIAN NATIONALISM POST WWII. THE UKRAINIAN DIASPORA

Having eventually failed in their complicity with Nazi Germany’s ethnic cleansing, the Galician Ukrainian murders carried their nationalist beliefs abroad as the “Ukrainian Diaspora”. They were assisted by the American CIA and the British MI6 in their quest to start a Cold War with The Soviets, their ally in defeating Germany.

While offshore the diaspora revised and rewrote their past authoritarian history. Their activities included creating a “Bandera Cult” and the heroizing of Ukrainian (GALICIAN) murders. Witness the monuments to Bandera, Shukhevych and other “heroes” in Ellenville, NY, just off the NY Thruway near Kingston.

Revisionist history was so aggressive that a description of it would make this Substack longer than it is, which is already long. The extent to changing the narrative is what happened at two great American universities and one in Germany. The following is a quote from Rossolinsk-Liebe’s book on Stepan Bandera. “In the 1970s, the Ukrainian diaspora established two major academic institutions, The Harvard Research Institute (HURII) in 1973 and the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies(CIUS) at the University of Alberta in 1976. Neither was as massively infiltrated by OUN-B members as UVU (Ukrainian Free University) in Munich, and they were not as heavily involved in the denial of war atrocities and the extolment of the OUN and UPA, infiltrated by OUN-CBUPA……….. THE RETURN OF THE DIASPORA . SLOBODA THE RISE OF THE NEW ANTISEMITISM ; UKRAINIAN, THE BBC VIDEO AND THE BIDEN CONNECTION TO THE MAIDAN COUP

On December 9, 1991, in the Belovezh Forest, Belarus, three Soviet leaders met: Boris Yeltsin of Russia, Stanislav Shushkevich of Bellarus , and Leonid Kravchuk of Ukraine. Yeltsin’s purpose was to render moot the leadership of the Soviet Union by Gorbachov. The three leaders signed an agreement to divide the Soviet Union into separate nations. It was finally the beginning of “The Ukraine” as a sovereign state. This was a clarion call for the return of the Ukrainian Diaspora and a new drive to rid the country of Russian Ukrainians living mainly in the East. Only seventeen percent of the country thought themselves ethnic Russians (Sakwa p.58). At that time enmity between East and West Ukrainians was not a serious issue. Eighty percent of the nation spoke Russian as their primary language. The government and the country functioned in the Russian language.

But the Galician Ultranationalists were back!! Things would change.

What was to be the makeup of this new 1992 nation-state where the majority spoke Russian and the eastern section felt to be Russian with Russian ancestors as far back as a millennium.? And then there was the return of the Galician Diasphora that had rewritten its history and hated Russia. The Ultranationalist headquarters were once again Lviv, the regional home of Stepan Bandera. Almost immediately a Bandera monument was planned in Lviv. Planning for the project began in 1993. Funding of the statue was provided by Lviv Oblast and veterans of the UPA. Keep in mind that UPA and the OUN were the murders mentioned Part One, here brought to life by a new generation of Galicians centered in Lviv.

Behind all of this was the prodigious transformation of truth into the Cult Of Bandera whereby this murderer was converted to a national hero reminiscent to the Hitler Cult where a murderer was raised to a national hero with torchlight parades, Nazis symbols and the cry of the former Galician Fascists, “Slava Ukrainia” now without the Ukrainian fascist salute. PARAMILITARY POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS

Reminiscent of Germany of the 1920s-30s is the formation of paramilitary groups. Three of these ultranationalist groups are Sloboda, Right Sector, and Azov, all three birthed in Lviv, Bandera’s birthplace in far western Ukraine. Where in western democracies do you find paramilitary groups? Just above is a Sloboda parade photo and above that a Sloboda militant masked in the flag of UPA. Have you witnessed such a thing in Western Europe since World War II? WITNESS THIS DRAMATIC VIDEO!

ANTISEMITISM CONTINUES

Before I tackle this subject we must keep in mind that Vladimir Zalenski and his chief of staff Andrei Yermack are from Jewish parents. Obviously these Ukrainian leaders do not support antisemitism. But this scourge exists throughout the country and is prevalent and highly visible in the streets.

Oleh Tyahnybok

As an example of how this antisemitism scourge still exists, here is a piece in Wikipedia on Sloboda leader Oleh Tyahnybok. “In 2004, Tyahnybok was kicked out of former President Viktor Yushchenko's parliamentary faction for a speech calling for Ukrainians to fight against a "Muscovite-Jewish mafia" - using two highly insulting words to describe Russians and Jews - and emphasising that Ukrainians had in the past fought this threat with arms. In 2005, he signed an open letter to Ukrainian leaders, including President Yushchenko, calling for the government to halt the "criminal activities" of "organised Jewry", which, the letter said, was spreading its influence in the country through conspiratorial organisations as the Anti-Defamation League - and which ultimately wanted to commit "genocide" against the Ukrainian people. Other Svoboda members have also courted controversy. Yuriy Mykhalchyshyn, a parliamentary deputy considered one of the party's ideologues, liberally quotes from former Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, along with other National-Socialist leader “(Wikipedia)

In 2010, Biletsky reportedly said that the Ukrainian nation's mission is to "lead the white races of the world in a final crusade...against Semite-led Untermenschen[36][37][38] Biletsky denied ever making such remarks.[39]

In a 2007 article, Biletsky stated that "Ukrainian racial social-nationalism" was the ideology of Patriot of Ukraine.[40] During his speech at a 2009 general meeting of the party he said: "How then can we describe our enemy? The general regime in power are oligarchs. Is there anything they have in common? Yes, one thing in common – they are Jews, or their true bosses – Jews – are behind them. Out of one hundred published richest people in Ukraine 92 are Jews, and some others of Tatar origin".[41] (Wikipedia)

THE UNITED STATES’ LEAD IN THE ROAD TO DISASTER. THE MAIDAN DEMONSTRATION AND THEREAFTER

The event which changed everything in Ukraine was the Maidan Demonstration and the overthrow of the legitimately elected Ukrainian government of Victor Yanakovich. Here are the words of a noted scholar “Compounding the problem of far right ultranationalist paramilitary organizations was a weak liberal civil society and power invested in the powerful oligarch class. Violence, corruption and big money doomed this fledging society. Adding fuel to the fire was American/EU meddling with its money, geopolitical interests and military training of the far right controlled military. All was a recipe for a fire and the fledging government was overthrown by a demonstration that became violent at the direction of the far right ultranationalists”.

Two recent scholarly papers have come to the conclusion that it was the far right as the responsible party, firing onto the Maidan plaza from the Hotel Ukraine on both demonstrators and police. “Although the killings had initially been attributed to (President) Yanukovych’s forces and even to a special unit sent by Moscow, the evidence now overwhelmingly suggests that the violence was initiated by militant nationalist groups, mostly Right Sector”(Sakwa p.277). Now what about Right Sector’s cohort, Sloboda and their leader Oleh Tiahnybok, also active on The Maidan. Here is where Joe Biden and his foreign policy team enter the stage as complicit Banderite actors in the overthrow of the legitimately elected government. The US team on the Maidan was Jeffry Pyatt, American Ambassador, and Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland. Nuland was passing out cookies and coordinating the coup d’etat for Jake Sullivan, VP Biden’s assistant. Since VP Biden held the Ukrainian portfolio for Obama, representative Under Secretary of State Nuland reported to Biden through Jake Sullivan, Biden’s man. Victoria Nuland had a pedigree which went back to Dick Chenny’s staff where she was principal adviser on the Bush W invasion of Iraq. (Experience in government overthrow?).

Nuland’s glib, hacked phone conversation connects her to Oleg Tiahnybok, the antisemitic head of Sloboda mentioned above. As Nuland speaks to the American Ambassador she says Arseny Yetsenyuk or “Yats” as they called him would be the best choice for prime minister, and that “Tiahnybok (the antisemite)and his guys would be more useful on the outside” There can’t be any doubt that she didn’t understand what Tiahnybok and associate Right Sector were about——-the violent overthrow of a legitimate government. Ivan Kantchanovski’s “The Snipers’ Massacre” study indites the Right Sector and Sloboda (cited in Sakwa, p. 323, footnote 48); therefore by association the US government representative, Ambassador Pyatt, and Joe Biden’s agent, Assistant Secretary of State, Victoria Nuland.

Here is the video on the Maidan of the thugs with guns, bats, etc. Note the young men commenting about getting rid of Jews and Russians.

Yulia Tymoshenko

Another of Nuland’s friends is Yulia Tymoshenko, former prime minister of Ukraine. Just after the Maidan revolt and the Crimea referendum (March 2014), Tymoshenko’s phone was also hacked. She was asked what should be done with the eight million Russian Ukrainians in eastern Ukraine and she said; “Screw it, we should take up arms and kill the goddamned katsaps" -- derogatory Ukrainian slang for Russians -- " We should hit them with an atomic weapon”. (dirty bomb?).

Nuland and Tymoshenko

The current US Assistant Secretary of State has violent bedfellows, appropriate for her task of overthrowing governments with Bandera-like violence. Atomic weapons? Dirty bombs? (Tymoshenko). How about Biological warfare labs? (Nuland)……In 2023 Nuland announced that the USA had 40 Biological labs in Ukraine on the border with Russia. (footnote: Glen Greenwald. Substack.) (Robert Kennedy Jr. on X. ). She obviously wanted to preempt the Russian announcement as Russia overran these questionable labs that could be weaponized or used for ethnic cleansing in perhaps the Donbas? It has been mentioned that Hunter Biden had investments in these labs. (footnote. Global Village Space.)

JOE BIDEN

What has to be remembered is the reference to Joe Biden in the Nuland hacked phone conversation. After she had the coup all arranged. Here is where she brings in Vice President (The Veep) Biden. Pyatt says to her we need someone with international personality to make all this stick. Nuland replies,” So on that piece Goeff, when I wrote the note to Jake (Sullivan)he came back to me VFR (Very F…..ing rapidly?) saying you need the Veep and I said probably tomorrow for an ata-boy and get the deets(details?) to stick. So Biden’s willing”. (Footnote, Medea Benjamin, p 175.)

Pyatt and Sullivan cleared the deck for Vice President Biden to fly to Kiev a few weeks after the Maidan overthrow! After arriving, Biden cavalierly threatened to cancel $9 billion in aid to the new government unless the government remove the judge that was investigating his son’s company, Barisma. This all challenges credulity and faith in American Justice. Here we are today wondering what has happened to our country. This was just the beginning. Biden’s team of Pyatt, Victoria Nuland and Jake Sullivan knew what they could do with this fledging country. Their aim was to use it to breakup Russia. They had a ruling, complying and complicit partner- Banderian, Violent, Russian hating Ukrainians Ultranationalists. . We were back to the Bandera era of the 20s,30s,40s. Slava Ukraini!

Unbelievably, here are two of Nuland’s Ukrainian partners and the continued brazen antisemitism.

ANDRIY PARUBIY

Parubiy led two neo-Nazis organizations: the Social-National Party of Ukraine (later named Sloboda), and the Patriot of Ukraine, whose members would eventually form the core of Azov. (Footnote) Lev Golinkin The Nation February 22,2019.

Here again is Nuland, right in there with the founder of Neo Nazis Sloboda chief, now head of parliament.

VADIM TROYAN/ARSEN AVAKOV

In November 2014 Troyan was appointed by the new Maidan government to the post of police chief of the Kyiv Oblast. The appointment was made by Minister of the Interior Arsen Avakov, a move that was strongly criticized by Ukraine's chief rabbi Yaakov Bleich, the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group and the Simon Wiesenthal Center. He was in this position until 2019.( Wikipedia)

Headline “Ukrainian Marchers in Kiev Chant “Jews Out” appeared in Jewish Telegraphic Agency, January 3, 2017. “Jews Out!” chanted thousands during this march honoring OUN leader Bandera. The next day the police denied hearing anything anti-Semitic. Vadim Troyes was the police chief. The Jewish Telegraphic Agency report included a video of the march. Unfortunately this utube video “is no longer available”!

That summer, a three-day festival celebrating the Nazi collaborator Shukhevych capped off with the firebombing of a synagogue. In November 2017, RFE reported Nazi salutes as 20,000 marched in honor of the UPA. And last April, hundreds marched in L’viv with coordinated Nazi salutes honoring SS Galichina; the march was promoted by the L’viv regional government. Arsen Avakov was Interior Minister who overlooked all this activity. He resigned in 2021 and his replacement was killed in a helicopter crash. Avakov did the deal for purchasing Airbus helicopters, one of which killed his successor. Avakov is now back in office!

LANGUAGE LAWS

According to a survey, Russian is used at home by 43–46% of the population of the country. On September 25, 2017, a new law on education was signed by the President which said that the Ukrainian language is the language of education at all levels except for subjects that are allowed to be taught in two or more languages, namely English or one of the other official languages of the European Union.

CRACKDOWN ON JOURNALISTS

The Ukrainian government and President Petro Poroshenko have banned journalists, media and websites.[83] The new sanctions in May 2017 targeted 1,228 people and 468 companies.[80] The decision was condemned by Reporters Without Borders, Human Rights Watch and Committee to Protect Journalists.[82][71][83]. GENEVA, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Ukraine's government has restricted media and freedoms of expression and peaceful assembly, violating international law, the U.N. human rights office said on Wednesday, adding that pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine imposed similar curbs. Added to the closing of Russian language newspapers and other media is MYROTVORETS .which posts a list of journalists to be gaslighted. The list includes the journalists address, emails and phone numbers. (Source: Geneva, Dec 15. Reuters)

CRACKDOWN ON POLITICIANS

On October 22, 2022, in a Guardian newspaper report by Piotr Sauer, entitled “Ukraine Suspends 11 Political Parties With Ties to Russia” , President Zelenskiy says parties such as Viktor Medvedchuk’s Opposition Platform for Life are ‘aimed at division or collusion’. The country’s national security and defence council took the decision to ban the parties from any political activity. Most of the parties affected were small, but one of them, the Opposition Platform for Life, has 44 seats in the 450-seat Ukrainian parliament.

Victor Medvedchuk, Zalenski’s principal opponent was subsequently jailed.

Zalenski promises to have new elections if The USA will pay $5 billion. Of course, if the election was ever to occur, his jailed principal opponent was sent to Russia in a prisoner of war swap.

WAR: 500,000 DEAD UKRAINIANS.

This is the result of the 2014 American-lead Maidan Coup D’Etat which started the war in the Donbas. We have seen in this report the tremendous influence of right-wing ultranationalists. Here is a photo of the military team prosecuting the war.

This is the office of General Zalushni with busts of Roman Shukhevych and Stepan Bandera as well as pictures of both men on the wall. Center in the wall is the Wolfsangel symbol, widely used in Nazi Germany. It was the symbol of several Nazi organizations and military units, including the 2nd SS Panzer Division “Das Reich,” the 4th SS Police Panzergrenadier Division, the 34th SS Volunteer Grenadier Division “Landstorm Nederland,” the Nazi guerrilla movement “Werewolf,” as well as a number of Wehrmacht units, and the Wehrmacht people's charity.

STEPAN BANDERA

REFERRING TO THE ABOVE HEADING OF NUMBERS OF UKRAINIAN MEN KILLED IN THE CURRENT CONFLICT, keep in mind the central character in our story is Stepan Bandera. The Ukrainians that have prosecuted this horrific war, idealize Bandera, march in the streets for his memory, build monuments to him, name streets after him. This was a man responsible for mass killings in World War II.

HERE IS BANDERA’S MESSAGE “The OUN values the life of its members, values it highly; but—our idea in our understanding is so grand, that when we talk about its realization, not single individuals, nor hundreds, but millions of victims have to be sacrificed in order to realize it”.
